Traveling Essentials - Gap Year or Backpacking

Whether you are taking a gap year or backpacking over your summer break some of these might be something you want to pack!

These are some of my travel essentials that I am packing for my trip to the Maldives...

As the Maldives is a Muslim country I have packed some more conservative clothes including this scarf/shawl from Forever 21. If you are visiting a country with similar cultural aspects or if you just want some ideas for comfortable travelling outfits check out next weeks post!

An absolute essential for any summer holiday is a good, easy going summer book!
I have only just started reading this book but I think it's going to be the perfect summer read.

Another essential of mine is a microfiber towel! These towels are really compact and dry quickly. This particular one is also anti-mircrobial. Most resorts or hotel will provide you with towels however if you are planning on doing any water sports or using a towel on the beach this one hardly takes up any room in your case and dries super quick!

Another item which is always an essential for me is a camera! This is my GoPro Hero 3+ which was a recent graduation gift! This is excellent for both videography and photography and has a wide angle lens. It also comes in a waterproof housing which is great for water sports such as wind surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling or surfing!

This next essential of mine may not apply to your destination but I think they are always handy to have! This is a mac in a bag! It's basically a rain coat which folds into a bag or pouch... This one is from Asda and only cost about £10!

Comfortable flip flops that will not rub your feet are an absolute essential for any summer holiday or trip abroad! These are my favourite ones from Nike which have a cushion bottom and really soft straps!

Lastly if you take makeup away with you taking miniature products is always a good idea as they don't take up as much space as full size products! Below are a few of my makeup essentials for holiday... Mascara, a BB cream and a roller ball/mini version of my favourite perfume!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Tune in next week for some traveling outfit ideas!
